YouthQuest Gears Up for 2018-19 Afterschool Program

(FLINT, Mich., Sept. 12, 2018) – With school back in session, area families can now register their students for YouthQuest’s afterschool enrichment program, which kicks off next week at multiple school districts in Flint and Genesee County.

The 32-week program, which serves students in grades K-12, offers high-quality activities and services that encourage academic achievement; physical fitness; the exploration of science, technology, engineering, arts and math; the development of leadership and other important life skills; and more.

Research shows that students who regularly attend afterschool programs like YouthQuest experience improved academic performance, have fewer disciplinary problems and are more likely to graduate from high school.

“YouthQuest offers a safe place for students to explore new interests and build positive relationships with peers and mentors,” said Cheryl Adkins, program director for YouthQuest, which is administered by the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. “In doing so, it prepares them to succeed in school, at home and beyond.”

During the 2018-19 academic year, YouthQuest, which receives its primary support from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and 21st Century Community Learning Centers, will be available to students attending the following schools:
