Hamilton Community Health Network Opens New Flagship Medical Facility

$7 Million Investment to Provide New Jobs and Expanded Services

(FLINT, MICHIGAN – DECEMBER 1) Today Hamilton Community Health Network (HCHN) held the grand opening for its new flagship facility.  The 31,000 square-foot facility is the sixth and largest HCHN facility in the area.  In addition to medical services, dental, vision, behavioral health, specialty and pharmacy services will be provided.  The facility is located at 2900 North Saginaw Street in Flint.

Designed to create a one-stop shop for medical services, the facility represents a $7 million investment in the community and will create 25-30 new jobs.  The facility will house family doctors, specialty doctors, including OB/GYNs; optometrists; podiatrists; dentists and a pharmacy.  A search is currently underway for additional medical providers, nurses, medical assistants, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and customer service representatives.

According to Clarence Pierce, CEO of HCHN the opening of this new building is the culmination of a planned expansion that is designed to increase access to primary care for people throughout Genesee County.

“Today is a great day for the community,” said Pierce.  “The opening of this new facility significantly broadens our ability to meet health care needs.  Through the addition of vision, and specialty services, we are creating a one-stop shop for medical services, which includes medical, dental and behavioral health, as well as pharmacy services.  Hamilton has served about 30,000 patients in total this year.  Prior to construction of the new facility, we served 4,800 patients, with a total of 14,000 medical visits at this site. I anticipate that the new facility will allow us to increase that number by at least 13,000 patients, doubling our current capacity, while increasing the number of medical visits to 40,000 based on expanded service availability. ”

“We congratulate Hamilton Community Health Network on the grand opening of their new facility and we are pleased to support the growth of their operations,” said Tim Herman, CEO, Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce.  “This is a significant step forward in their expansion and job creation plans, and great news for the citizens of Flint and Genesee County.”

HCHN provides medical services for children and adults.  Most major insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid are accepted at the facilities and a sliding scale is offered for those without insurance. Through its “Where Caring Comes First” campaign, HCHN seeks to increase access to primary care for all of the citizens in Genesee County.

About Hamilton Community Health Network

Hamilton Community Health Network (HCHN) formerly known as Hamilton Family Health Center was established in 1982 by St. Joseph’s Hospital (currently known as Genesys Health System), in response to the unmet medical needs of low income and minority populations primarily on the North side of Flint.

Presently, HCHN has six locations providing a wide range of primary care services, including pediatrics, OB/GYN, dental, pharmacy, vision, behavioral health and specialty care at four sites and dental services at the remaining sites.  There are four HCHN sites in the City of Flint and the additional sites are within a five mile radius of the city.

As the only federally qualified community health center in Genesee County, HCHN offers special programs including a sliding fee scale program designed to allow access to services for all patients. HCHN serves a diverse patient base with 53 percent African American, 41 percent Caucasian, 3 percent Hispanic and 2 percent other (including Middle Eastern Americans and Asian Americans).  The percentage of total encounters is approximately 48 percent Medicaid, 38 percent uninsured, 7 percent Medicare and 6 percent private insurance.
