Guest Blog: Moving Flint Forward with Sisco’s Catering

By Jaszmane Sisco

Sisco’s Catering LLC is a family-based catering business that was launched in 2017 after my dad, Therman Sisco, completed the Flint Small Business Initiative Program through Laura Sigmon of Best Practices Consulting Services LLC.

Being born and raised in Flint, we value serving the people in our community and the goal is to serve them as they seem fit. Having a business that has served generations is something we will forever be proud of. We believe that food makes everything better. Built upon the idea of “Food, Family, Friends, Forever,” our goal is to continue serving generations to come.

As a small business, there are a lot of small details that we like to hit before we go big. Those small details make up for a bigger outcome.

With the Moving Flint Forward grant, we have been taking this time to revamp our business. With the grant, we were able to purchase new equipment to help make our jobs easier. We have also been able to purchase technical equipment, apparel and new catering equipment for more upscale events. We love to support people in our community and have been working closely with a graphic designer in Flint to create a logo and business cards that better brand our business.

Our ultimate goal is to continue generating revenue and letting the city get to know us more. We will continue to do this in hopes of buying our very own catering hall.

Spring is approaching, so coming up for us is open house and wedding season. We’re also looking to do more pop-up events and would love to know of any businesses interested in collaborating with us to host a pop-up in their space.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook and contact us at (810) 333-7548 or if you are in need of some good comfort food.
