YouthQuest Celebrates the Arts During ArtQuest 2012

On Tuesday, May 15, children from throughout the region will display their talents during ArtQuest 2012, a celebration of the arts sponsored by the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce’s YouthQuest program.  Artistic works from 15 YouthQuest sites will be on display for the community as part of the event.  The event takes place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the atrium of the Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy Building in Flint.

The public is welcome to attend and experience visual, written and performance art during the event kickoff, which features a silent auction.  Attendees will have an opportunity to bid on select art from the exhibit.

“The exhibition will provide an opportunity to showcase the talents of the young artists in this region on a variety of levels,” said Rhetta Hunyady, Group Vice President Employer Education and Training Connection at the Regional Chamber.  “There will be visual and performing arts, poetry and musical performances.  This year students focused on creating fine art and the result is an amazing array of talent.”

The celebration serves as the latest opportunity for YouthQuest students to enhance their leadership skills through exposure to diverse programs designed to highlight their abilities.  Students will participate in a three-day event from May 15-17.

In addition, ArtQuest will feature art entries for the C.S. Mott Annual Report Cover Contest submitted by students from YouthQuest, the 21st Century afterschool program of the Flint Genesee Intermediate School District and the Boys and Girls Club.

YouthQuest is a free after school program that reaches more than 2,000 K-8 students at 15 school-based sites in Flint and Genesee County managed by the Regional Chamber.  For more information about ArtQuest contact Rhetta Hunyady at (810) 600-1412.
