Vienna Township Wins Keep Michigan Beautiful Award

Beautification takes center stage in Vienna Township as the Vienna Township Business Development Authority (DBA) was honored with the Keep Michigan Beautiful Award for the I-75 Exit 131 Beautification Project.  The “Michigan Plaque” was presented during the Keep Michigan Beautiful Conference and Awards Program in Detroit.

Each year Keep Michigan Beautiful, Inc. recognizes programs and activities that substantially contribute to environmental improvement, clean up, beautification, site restoration and historical preservation. Awards are given to government units, community groups, school or youth groups, businesses and individuals.

The Vienna Township BDA’s Flower Committee took the lead in installing and maintaining the Exit 131 Beautification Project.  In addition to planting the flower beds and installing benches and lights, the committee also kept the area mowed and maintained.  The $20,000 budget was spent with local merchants to purchase flowers, and equipment.
