SANLUIS Rassini Chooses Genesee County

Mexico-based SANLUIS Rassini recently announced plans to locate an automotive product machining facility in Mt. Morris Charter Township.  The new brakes plant represents a $17.3 million investment, as well as the creation of 55 new jobs along I-75 in Flint & Genesee this year and the potential for 45-50 additional new jobs in 2014.

SANLUIS Rassini Brakes, LLC was awarded a $500,000 Development Performance-based grant by the Michigan Strategic Fund of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.  In addition, the company was granted approval of property tax abatements for both real and property tax investments by the Mt. Morris Charter Township Board.

According to Janice Karcher, Vice President of Economic Development for the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce the Chamber’s Economic Development team helped facilitate connectivity for SANLUIS Rassini.

“Incentives and collaboration played a critical role in bringing Rassini Brakes to Flint & Genesee,” said Karcher.  “Our ED team worked with Rassini to provide support throughout the site selection process.  We helped connect them to the township and the state, as well as employee training opportunities.  Flint & Genesee was seen as the right place for this new facility, because of our strategic location and contributions our partners make to company competitiveness.”

To facilitate the availability of highly skilled employees, Rassini received $325,000 in funding support through the Michigan New Jobs Training Program at Mott Community College and the Shiawassee-Genesee Michigan Works! to utilize customized talent acquisition services.

SANLUIS Rassini is the largest fully integrated supplier of rotor components in North America.  The company’s brakes division was named the 2012 General Motors Supplier of the Year.
