Prepare for ‘Meet the Buyer’ 2018

“Meet the Buyer 2018” is one month from today. So there is still plenty time to sharpen your sales pitch for the prospective buyers of the goods and services that will be present at the May 11 event.

The Region 6 Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) is ready to assist. PTAC is hosting Meet the Buyer preparation workshop on April 20 at the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. The two-hour session, from 9-11 a.m., will focus on helping participants develop their company’s capability statement, including what it should highlight and showcase. Participants will also work on developing a winning elevator speech.

“The capability statement should communicate clearly and effectively to potential partners about your capabilities,” said PTAC Manager Jasmine McKenney. “It provides specific information that will assist potential clients to make a decision on whether they should do business with you. The idea is to differentiate your business from your competitor.”

This workshop is free to the public but advanced registration is required. Space is limited.

Meet the Buyer will be held May 11 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Riverfront Banquet Center,
1 Riverfront Plaza in downtown Flint. It brings together procurement officials from various local, regional, state and federal agencies and businesses with goods and services for sale.

Attendees will rotate among different agency tables, learning how the organization buys, what they are buying, and other valuable procurement information. Each buyer has five minutes to share information about their organization and what they buy, followed by 15 minutes for attendees to briefly present their companies and ask questions.

Buyers in past years have included Ann Arbor Transportation Authority, Bay Metro Transit, Bishop International Airport, City of Flint, Consumers Energy, Department of Veteran Affairs, Flint/Genesee Job Corps, General Dynamics Land Systems, Genesee County, Genesee County Road Commission, Hurley Medical Center, Mass Transportation Authority, Oakland County, TACOM LCMC, United States Army, and others.

Steven Koprince, Managing Partner of Koprince Law LLC- Legal Solutions for Government Contractors, will be the keynote speaker. Read Koprince’s guest commentary (p. 18) in the March/April 2018 issue of AND.
