Online Art Auction Benefiting YouthQuest Extended to Sept. 5

An online art auction featuring the artwork of a dozen different artists from Michigan and beyond has been extended through Sept. 5.

The auction – hosted by Ann Arbor-based Mr. B’s Joybox Express – is part of the nonprofit’s year-long fundraising campaign benefiting the YouthQuest After School Initiative. It culminates with an especially unique journey – one that involves transporting a 385-pound piano on a tricycle built for three from Flint to Mackinac Island this summer.

“This auction benefits YouthQuest’s art programming for 2018,” said Mark Braun, Founder of Joybox Box Express and Flint native, noting that all pieces were donated by the participating artists. “It’s all about artists supporting the arts.”

According to Braun, the auction includes a variety of artists specializing in a variety of mediums: paintings, sculptures, fabric appliques and more.

The artists include:

The auction has been facilitated with the help of New Orleans-based Antieau Gallery, owned by Chris Robert-Antieau, an artist and friend of Braun’s.

“There’s a lot of energy and enthusiasm behind this project,” said Gallery Manager Heidi Hendrick. “It’s a great way to support the kids of Flint and walk away with a unique piece of art while you’re at it.”

According to Hendrick, winning bidders can expect to receive their artwork within one to two weeks following the auction’s end.
