Moving Flint Forward Leadership Summit Planned for June 14

April 27, 2016

The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce on June 14 will convene business executives from across Michigan to help craft a vision of the post-water crisis Flint.

The summit, sponsored in part by Deloitte, will bring together executives to network and exchange ideas that will help shape the vision for the recovery and revitalization of one of Michigan’s great urban centers. The Flint & Genesee Chamber is working with the Detroit Regional Chamber, Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce and Michigan Chamber of Commerce to attract business leaders from across Michigan to the summit, which will be held at the Flint Institute of Arts.

“We’re calling it an Education Day for our fellow Chamber Board members,” said Tim Herman, CEO of the Flint & Genesee Chamber. “We want to tap some of the best minds in the state for ideas as we work to emerge stronger than before from this water crisis.”

A detailed agenda for the all-day event is still being developed with planning expertise provided by Deloitte. It will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Leadership Summit is part of the Moving Flint Forward Initiative announced at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting in March. Launched in response to the Flint water emergency, the business and community development initiative seeks to address the immediate and long-term development needs arising out of, or magnified by, the crisis.

FlintNOW, a private-sector initiative by Tom Gores, Chairman and CEO of Platinum Equity, is a strategic partner to the initiative.
