The economic rebound that’s underway has a number of local manufacturers in search of talent to fill openings for entry-level, skilled trades and managerial positions.
Job seekers on May 10, from 9 a.m. to noon, can explore all the open positions at the virtual Manufacturing Career Fair. The participating employers include Avancez Assembly LLC; Domico Med-Device; Fernco, Inc.; General Motors-Flint Assembly; HIROTEC America, Inc.; Miller Industries; Peckham, Inc.; Richfield Industries; Rolls Mechanical; and more. Resource partners will also be available to offer career and support services.
The event is hosted by the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance and its workforce development partners – GST Michigan Works!, Mott Community College Workforce & Economic Development and Flint & Genesee Education & Talent. (The Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance and Flint& Genesee Education & Talent are divisions of the Flint & Genesee Group, formerly known as the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce.)
“The employers we have partnered with have great opportunities for individuals to build a career right here in our community,” said Tyler Rossmaessler, executive director of the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance. “So, we are excited to partner with local companies to help connect residents to the manufacturing careers.”
The career fair will use Brazen software to enable employers and job seekers to connect and interact virtually in real-time. The online format will allow participants to engage directly with company representatives from their home computers, smartphones or tablets. After signing in on the day of the career fair, job seekers will be able to explore the available information and opportunities with each employer.
Interested persons will first need to create an account and complete the registration form. To get started, please visit flintandgenesee.org/jobfair.
“Many companies are hiring but in the COVID-era it can be difficult to host an in-person career fair. Fortunately, technology has a provided an ideal solution that delivers same kind of one-stop service for both employers and future employees,” Rossmaessler said. “We are excited we are able to offer this easy-to-use online platform to connect job seekers with the opportunities available in our community.”
