I-69 International Corridor Markets Michigan’s Blue Water Gateway

I-69 International Trade CorridorBillboards, summits and a brand new website are among the many ways that the I-69 International Trade Corridor is touting the benefits of doing business along Michigan’s Blue Water Gateway.  The Corridor, which encompasses Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer and St. Clair counties, serves as a strategic gateway between the Midwest United States and the Canadian border.

According to Janice Karcher, Vice President of Economic Development for the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce the four counties along the corridor have a great deal to offer businesses looking to benefit from the region’s many modes of transportation and incentives.

“Our collective goal is to help businesses benefit from the advantages we provide in the Corridor,” said Karcher. “Each of the four county economic development organizations is ready to assist businesses looking for incentivized locations, export and import opportunities and access to a skilled workforce.”

The Corridor benefits from having Flint’s Bishop International Airport at its core; access to major freeways – including I-69, I-75, US-23 and I-96; the Blue Water Bridge, which connects Port Huron to Sarnia, Ontario, Canada; as well as multiple rail providers including CSX and Canadian National.

The Regional Chamber is one of four county-wide economic development organizations supporting the Corridor.  Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership, Lapeer Development Corporation and the Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County support economic development activity in their respective counties.
