Flint Home to #1 Engineering Program and Top Ten Community College

Two of Flint’s institutions of higher learning, Kettering University and Mott Community College have received national recognition.

Kettering was named number one in the United States in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering programs* by U.S. News and World Reports 2012 College Rankings.  The university ranks number two in the nation among Mechanical Engineering programs and sixteenth overall among Midwest schools.  Kettering’s unique co-op based programs provide direct work experience on a rotating semester basis.

Mott Community College (MCC) is one of ten finalists in the Aspen Institute’s College Excellence Program.  Aspen cites MCC’s very strong improvement in the number of students that earned degrees and certificates over the past five years.  Also noted was that “…the college effectively used information to make targeted investments to improve outcomes.”

Janice Karcher, Vice President of Economic Development at the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce says it is a testament to the quality of our educational resources that we have nationally recognized colleges in the region that provide over 4,000 graduates per year.
