Eighth-Annual Vehicle City Gridiron Classic hosted at Kettering University’s Historic Atwood Stadium

Eight high school teams match up once again to kick off the 2025 high school football season 

(Flint, Mich., Aug. 6, 2025) – Kettering University’s Atwood Stadium will host the eighth-annual Flint & Genesee Vehicle City Gridiron Classic to kick off the 2025 high school football season with two days of games, beginning on Aug. 28.  

This year’s games will feature matchups between intra-county rivals as well as Genesee County schools taking on visiting schools from neighboring communities. 

Thursday, Aug. 28 

  • 1 p.m. – Summerfield High School vs. Beecher High School 
  • 4 p.m.  Clio High School vs. Mt. Morris High School 
  • 7 p.m. – Millington High School vs. Reese High School 

​Friday, Aug. 29 

  • 4 p.m. – Erie Mason High School vs. Flint Elite (New Standard and Madison Academies) 

Tickets are $10 at the gate. Tickets will also be available for purchase online at GOFan.co for $11 (including processing fee) beginning two weeks before the event. Stadium parking is $5.

“The Vehicle City Gridiron Classic brings together some of our region’s most competitive football programs and gives their players an opportunity to compete at one of the finest sports fields in our state,” said Judge Duncan Beagle, president of the Vehicle City Sports Committee. “The event allows the athletes to showcase their skills not only to fans and community members, but also to college scouts from throughout the state.”
