Buckham Gallery

Built from an artist collaborative project in the 1980s, Buckham Gallery seeks to fulfill the city’s need for a local exhibition and performance venue. Don’t miss its current exhibit:

Chapter 2 – The Premiere Exhibit
Through Feb. 2

Chapter 2 is the first exhibition in Buckham Gallery’s new location – the former Perry Drugs Building. Featured artists include Michael D Melet, Laura J. Stein, Rosemary Bostek, Terry Schupbach-Gordan and Edward n Tillery.

Flint Institute of Arts

The second largest art museum in Michigan features rotating exhibitions in their Hodge Galleries, Ann K. Walch-Chan Gallery and Graphic Gallery. Don’t miss these current exhibits:

The Sea is History
Through Jan. 31

Housed in the Media Arts Gallery, this adaptation of the poem by the same name by Derek Walcott, a Saint Lucien poet, critiques the monumentalization of European colonial history.

Breaking with Tradition: Contemporary Ceramics
Through Jan. 27

This exhibition in the Harris-Burger Gallery features work by artists who have bent the rules and subverted ideas about traditional ceramics.

Small Worlds
Through May 29

In the Ann K. Walch-Chan Gallery, this exhibit features paperweights spanning from the mid-19th century, the classic period of paperweight production, through present day.

Mott-Warsh Gallery

The permanent home of the Mott-Warsh Collection, MW Gallery provides a welcoming environment to engage with fine art created by artists of the African diaspora. Don’t miss its current exhibit:

Music as Muse: Melodic Inspirations in Art

This sensory-filled exhibit features work from artists such as Xenobia Bailey, Anthony Barboza, Romare Bearden, John Hughes, Jennie C. Jones, Nadine Robinson, Mildred Thompson and more. Music and sound are the sources of inspiration for MW’s newest exhibit.
