CEO Blog: Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week, it’s tradition to spend time thinking about what we are thankful for. We at the Flint & Genesee Group are grateful for so many things and I’d like to share a few of them with you.

We are thankful that the people of Flint and Genesee County are resilient and have each other’s back.

We’re thankful to have a role in strengthening the business community after the devastating blow of the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m glad that companies – large and small – continue to see this area as a viable place to conduct business, which keeps our business climate competitive and thriving. Companies such as Allegiant Air, NorthGate and HIROTEC America, Inc. are recent examples. We are also thankful for the many businesses, entrepreneurs, community leaders and hospitality professionals who go beyond the call of duty. We were so grateful for the opportunity to congratulate, honor and thank many of them during our recent Art of Achievement Awards.

We are thankful for the role that we play in helping families by helping family members get jobs as a result of our K-12 career preparation and talent development programs. We’re proud our students and staff stayed focused and worked hard this year whether they were in a virtual setting or in person.

We are thankful to our hotel partners for ensuring their properties followed COVID safety protocols and doing everything possible to create a welcoming environment and positive visitor experience for their guests.

We are thankful for our board of directors, investors, funders, our members and our incredible volunteers. Thank you all for your advocacy, partnership, expertise and financial support.

Lastly, I am especially grateful to lead the Flint & Genesee Group. It is a wonderful place to work with amazing employees who are dedicated to strengthening the local economy and creating a place where people thrive, and businesses invest and grow. I’m also thankful for my family and my seven grandchildren.

This Thanksgiving holiday, I hope you will spend time doing what’s important to you, and spend the first major holiday in nearly two years – since the onset of COVID – with the people who are important to you.

Be safe and enjoy!

Tim
