Buyer slots open in popular ‘Meet the Buyer’ event

Calling all purchasing professionals: “Meet the Buyer” is back for its first in-person event since 2019, and there are still seats available for interested buyers.

The event – slated to take place Aug. 22 at the Bavarian Inn & Conference Center in Frankenmuth – will be hosted by East Michigan APEX Accelerator in partnership with Region 5 Saginaw Future APEX Accelerator.

“We felt like it made sense to team up with our friends in Saginaw for this in-person event,” said Jasmine McKenney, director of the East Michigan APEX Accelerator, formerly Procurement Technical Assistance Center or PTAC. “By combining resources in this way, we can reach a larger audience and create more opportunities for connection.”

According to McKenney, the event’s format is similar to “speed dating” and provides a fast-paced, innovative way for businesses to connect with buyers from across the region. Each buyer will have five minutes to share information about their organization and what they buy, followed by 10 minutes for attendees to briefly present their companies and ask questions.

“It’s a great way for buyers representing local, state, and federal government, as well as private industry, to get an overview of the various products and services available through local vendors,” said McKenney. “It’s also great exposure for area small businesses. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

More than 150 vendors are expected to attend this year’s event. Past buyers have included State of Michigan, Hurley Medical Center, Consumers Energy, and more.

To sign on as a buyer for the event, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon, contact Brooklynn Smith at (810) 600 1432 or .
