U.S. Chamber Awards Flint & Genesee Chamber with 4-Star Accreditation

(FLINT, Mich., March 14, 2017) – The United States Chamber of Commerce has awarded the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce with 4-Star accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures and positive impact on the community.

U.S. Chamber Accreditation defines standards of excellence in chamber planning, and recognizes individual chambers for outstanding contributions toward positive change in their communities.

“The Flint & Genesee Chamber’s 4-star designation is a recognition of its commitment to strong business practices, community leadership, free enterprise and pro-growth policies,” said Ali Ehrlich, Director of Operations for Political Affairs & Federation Relations, U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “Notably, the Chamber has established itself as an advocate for its business community and was recognized for its Genesee Regional Chamber Political Action Committee, Moving Flint Forward Leadership Summit, Flint Sprint initiative and Small Business Assistance Forums.”

To apply for accreditation, a chamber must complete an extensive self-review that examines nine key aspects of operations, including benchmarking, communication, facilities, finance, governance, government affairs, human resources, program development and technology.

Local and regional chambers that meet minimum standards in their operations and programs are then rated as “Accredited” or “Accredited with 3, 4 or 5 Stars.” Of the 7,000 chambers in the United States, only 3 percent are currently accredited through the U.S. Chamber.

“This recognition speaks to the dedication of our members, board and employees,” said Tim Herman, CEO of the Flint & Genesee Chamber. “We are committed to excellence and are proud to be accredited through such a prestigious program.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
