Enrollment Deadline October 29
(FLINT, MICH.) The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce TeenQuest program is offering the second session of its no-cost pre-employment leadership training to Genesee County high school students ages 14 through 18 who are currently in grades 9 through 12. Interested students should submit applications by Monday, October 29.
The second session begins on Monday, October 29 and concludes on Friday, November 30. The sites with available openings include: Baker Career Academy, Flint Southwestern Academy, Grand Blanc High School and Kearsley High School.
TeenQuest is a five-week pre-employment and leadership training program designed to help Genesee County youth prepare for success in the future. Through TeenQuest students learn the basics of teamwork, business etiquette, work ethics, communication, goal setting and conflict resolution. The program is also a pre-requisite for employment through the Summer Youth Initiative (SYI), which matches employers with TeenQuest graduates for summer employment.
“We are proud that TeenQuest graduates are prepared to enter the work world with valuable, marketable skills,” said Tim Herman, CEO of the Regional Chamber. “Participation in the program is an excellent growth opportunity for youth in the region.”
Rhetta Hunyady, Regional Chamber Group Vice President of Education and Training says the employment opportunities available to TeenQuest graduates are one of many ways that students benefit from the program.
“TeenQuest graduates learn how to be leaders,” said Hunyady. “The training provides critical skills needed for success in the workplace and in life.”

The Summer Youth Initiative is a program that helps Flint-area teens find paid summer jobs. It’s open to students who’ve completed the TeenQuest afterschool program, which provides pre-employment and leadership training to students ages 14 to 19 to help them succeed in college and the 21st century workplace.
