Employee Growth Continues According to Plan
Flint-based Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy recently added recognition as a Top Workplace by the Detroit Free Press to its growing list of accolades. The company’s growth plan, which was launched in 2010, continues to provide new jobs and opportunities in the City of Flint.
In 2011, Diplomat invested $12 million dollars in 340,000 square feet of the Great Lakes Medical Technology Center, a former General Motors tech center. This has enabled the company to add employees and expand operations, as well as streamline processes and systems.
Since 2011, Diplomat has grown from 350 to 760 employees overall with 680 in Flint. The project was supported by state and local government through a tax-free Renaissance Zone, workforce training and other significant incentives.
According to Phil Hagerman, CEO and Co-founder of Diplomat the assistance that his company received from the state, the City of Flint and the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce has played a significant role in his company’s growth.
The Free Press ranking is based on employee satisfaction and rapid. Diplomat was among the top 25 in the large workplace category.
Earlier this year, Diplomat was selected by Inc. Magazine as one of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies for a fourth consecutive year. Last year, Trade and Industry Magazine recognized Diplomat and its Flint partners with the Corporate Investment and Community Impact (CiCi) award based on the project’s major impact on economic diversification and job growth in Flint.
Diplomat has grown from a family-owned neighborhood pharmacy to become a large corporation with facilities in Illinois, Florida and California. The independently held healthcare company provides medication management and clinical services.
