Walking in a Winter Wonderland
During the Flint Cultural Center Holiday Walk, students at Eisenhower Elementary visited the Flint Public Library. There, they were treated to punch and cookies, made Christmas tree ornaments and read holiday-themed books. They then went to Sloan Museum where they made holiday crafts and explored “RACE: Are We So Different?” an exhibit designed to inspire community conversations. Finally, they ended the night at the Whiting and where they watched a live Mariachi band.
Express Yourself
In the Creative Expressions Club at Dye Elementary, students learned the techniques of graffiti – the focus of this year’s ArtQuest. Students were then challenged to express their own creativity through their art.
Loving Lasagna
Students in the Chef Colby Cooking Club at Durant-Tuuri-Mott Elementary learned how to make lasagna. When they finished preparing the dish, they brought the dinner to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for participants to enjoy.
Cookies and Cocoa
Randels Elementary hosted a family night where they invited students create a holiday decoration, design their own cookies, make hot cocoa, and created holiday and thank you cards for their families.
