Flint Native and Successful Entrepreneur W. David Tarver to Speak at Flint Public Library

Regional Chamber Sponsors Community Reception and Book Signing

(FLINT, MICH) A career in engineering became the stepping stone for multi-million dollar success for Flint-native W. David Tarver when he decided to start a business in his basement that he would ultimately sell for $30 million.  It’s all spelled out in Tarver’s new book, Proving Ground:  A Memoir.

Join the Flint Public Library and the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce as they present an opportunity to hear how the Flint Central High School graduate, former Kettering student and University of Michigan alum became a successful entrepreneur.  Tarver will speak at the Flint Public Library on Thursday, November 29 starting with a community reception at 5:00 p.m. followed by a program and book signing at 6:30 p.m.

“David Tarver’s story is inspirational and shows how ingenuity, creativity and determination can take you places beyond your wildest dreams,” said Tim Herman, CEO of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. “Business owners and those considering becoming entrepreneurs should attend this event.”

Tarver chronicles his success in A Memoir”, which traces his journey from ambitious youth to determined entrepreneur. Growing up in Flint Tarver says he wondered why his father, an accomplished radio and television technician, only exercised his passion for electronics in the basement of their home. Inspired by his father’s expertise and the civil-rights movement, he was determined to start a company that made “electronic stuff.”

He founded Telecom Analysis Systems Inc. and within twelve years sold it for $30 million.  Tarver grew his business without the aid of angel investors, venture capital, government grants or minority business development programs.  During his presentation Tarver will reveal the steps he took to make it in the business world.

Business leaders, entrepreneurs and students interested in learning more about starting and growing a business should consider attending this event.
