Flint & Genesee Chamber Joins with MEDC to Host Advanced Manufacturer Worker Training Presentation for Employers

(FLINT, Mich. – March 10, 2014)  On Tuesday, March 19 the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) will host informational presentations about the Michigan Advanced Technician Training (MAT²) system designed to help employers develop a skilled workforce.  The sessions take place at Mott Community College in Flint.

The first session runs from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and will provide details of the IT-Technician concentration.  The 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. session will cover the Mechatronics and Technical Product Design area of the study.

According to Janice Karcher, Vice President of Economic Development for the Chamber employers in Flint and Genesee should take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about these important training options.

“The MAT² system provides a great opportunity for manufacturers in the region to enhance their workforce through training,” said Karcher.  “We are pleased to partner with the MEDC to offer this impactful presentation for area employers.”

Dr. Thomas Baumann of Orbitak International, the firm responsible for administering the MAT² system, will facilitate both presentations.  Flint-area employers looking to train advanced manufacturing workers are encouraged to attend.
