Flint’s Bishop International Airport announced that United Airlines will begin flying nonstop jet service to Newark Airport starting on July 1.

Newark is one of three commercial airports serving the metropolitan New York area. As a true regional airport, this additional route from Bishop will give 3 million people nonstop access to the East Coast, as well as phenomenal international connectivity, which is vital to the area’s continued economic growth.

“United wants to be the airline customers choose first when planning their travel from Flint to the New York area and beyond,” said Cheryl Cannon, United sales manager. “Whether it’s for business or leisure, customers now have access to more domestic and international flights than ever before.”

Craig Williams said the flight is “perfectly timed for the Southeastern Michigan business traveler who has work to do in the New York area and wants to do a day trip. Newark is a major hub for United and offers great connections to destinations along the eastern seaboard and internationally. The flight is ideally timed to connect to United’s Asian destinations.”
