September is in full swing and soon the leaves on the trees will change bringing about the colors of fall. According to the Smoky Mountains Fall Foliage map, Flint and Genesee County will be at peak color around mid-October. However, colors will begin popping up in the next few weeks.

Here are four ways you can enjoy the fall foliage in Flint & Genesee:

On the River

Floating down the river in a kayak or canoe is a great way to bring in the sights of fall. In our area, the Flint River and the Shiawassee River are great places float.

On a Hike

With over 11,000 acres of parks in the County, there are many places to go for a nature hike and experience autumn’s beauty. To find your favorite trail, visit geneseecountyparks.org.

With a Bike

Biking isn’t only a great way to commute or exercise, it’s also a wonderful way to experience fall in your city or town. In downtown Flint, the Flint River Trail is great for cyclists, and in Flushing, you can find a great ride through the Riverview Trail.

In Your Car

Want an experience that is socially distanced, take a drive! There are many neighborhoods and cities in the County with beautiful fall views and by taking a short drive you can see all the beauty and stay safe.
