Before Crossroads Village officially re-opens for the summer season, more than 60 vendors will set up temporary shop along the streets of the historic village.
“After a fantastic response last year – even in terrible weather — Vintage in the Village is back, bigger and better,” says Danielle Fulcher, marketing specialist at Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission, which is partnering with Mercantile Fairs on the event.
Thankfully, she adds, the forecast is calling for a comfortable 71 degrees during this year’s event, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 20.
And truly, visitors can make a day of it.
Upon entering the village, guests can check out the various food vendors lined up along Main Street: Big JJ Mobile Barbeque, Detroit Mini Donut and Juniors Cafe & Creamery, to name a few.
From there, they can peruse the various crafters, artisans and businesses lined along the boardwalk and throughout the Mill Street Warehouse. From Yellow Dog Market to Silhouettes and More, the vendors will offer a mix of vintage, re-purposed, handmade, shabby chic and Pinterest-inspired goods.
Other key points of interest include Flint Handmade’s coloring party at the Stanley Schoolhouse, and She Shed Alley, where local businesses will provide inspiring ideas for transforming traditional backyard sheds into chic hideaways.
Not up for too much walking? No worries – a trolley will be making stops throughout the village during the day.
“When you’re done shopping, you can enjoy a glass of wine on the deck of the Genesee Belle overlooking the scenic Mott Lake,” says Fulcher, noting that the Local Grocer will also be on board, selling finger-foods like garlic-infused hummus and Italian meatballs in rustic tomato sauce. “It’s a great opportunity to see Crossroads Village and enjoy a day out with friends and treasure-hunting buddies.”
While the event will run into the late afternoon, Fulcher recommends arriving earlier if possible. After all, the first 3,000 visitors will receive a shopping bag to hold all of their new finds.
Admission is $5, and parking is free.
