Program Begins September 20

Looking for efficient ways to leverage collaboration?  Then consider participating in the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce Shared Services Leadership Center Leadership Alliance program.  The six-month program is designed to provide public sector leaders with the knowledge and skills required to facilitate shared collaborative services.

Participants will receive leadership and organizational development training, coaching/mentoring and team support development.  Scheduled sessions include:

  • Team Playing: The Negativity Trap
  • Creating a Shared Vision:  The Steps to Success in Shared Services
  • Developing Followership: ChangeWorks
  • Implementing the Vision:  Thinking Lean
  • Following Through:  Kirton Adaption—Innovation Inventory
  • Achieving Results:  Shared Services Project Presentation

Each session will be led by professionals and experts from both the public and private sectors.  Session leaders and facilitators include: Lois Wolfe-Morgan, public speaker and author of “The Negativity Trap”; Connie Bohatch, Managing Director of Community Services for Grand Rapids; CareerWorks facilitators; mentors and coaches from The Best Project, as well as experts from a broad-range of organizations.  The Michigan Municipal League is providing Elected Officials Academy credit for Academy members who also participate in the Leadership Alliance.

The Shared Services Center is operated by the Chamber and was conceptualized by a coalition of community leaders from Flint and communities throughout Genesee County.  Through the creation and facilitation of shared public services the center works to assist the public sector in finding ways to best utilize resources and save money through collaboration.

The Alliance will benefit public sector leaders who have an interest in facilitating efficient operations and collaborative shared services.

Applicants must submit applications for consideration before Friday, August 16 at 4:00 p.m. A review board will select up to 15 participants for the Alliance. There is a $250 cost to participate, however a limited number of scholarships are available.  The fall class is slated to begin on September 20.  The six-month program includes one full-day session per month and a one hour coaching session.
