(FLINT, MICHIGAN – September 25, 2014) On Tuesday, September 30 the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce will host a Truck Driver Employer event. Employers seeking drivers are encouraged to join the Chamber for a workforce strategy meeting in the north end banquet room of the Genesee Career Institute (formerly the Genesee Area Skill Center) from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
According to Janice Karcher, Vice President of Economic Development for the Chamber many businesses in the region are seeking hundreds of employees for various positions including truck drivers.
“Employers need drivers and many people need jobs,” said Karcher. “Our goal is to help employers fill these and other positions with qualified employees. We are working with business and workforce partners to address the barriers and help fill available positions.”
The meeting will include workforce development and training information, strategies for marketing open positions and collaboration with other companies looking to enhance the truck driver talent pool.
