YouthQuest Registration Runs May 24-27

YouthQuest Registration to be Held May 24-27May 18, 2016

Registration for the YouthQuest summer program will be held May 24-27. Students are encouraged to register early; space is limited.

Starting in June, YouthQuest students will participate in many of the same activities that the afterschool program hosts during the school year. This includes offerings that encourage the exploration of new interests in the areas of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math), and promotes academic achievement, physical fitness, youth leadership and volunteerism.

“Last summer, students learned to tap dance, led community service projects and went on multiple field trips throughout the state,” said Rhetta Hunyady, Vice President of Education & Training at the Flint & Genesee Chamber, which administers the comprehensive enrichment program. “YouthQuest offers Flint-area families a reliable and fun way to keep their children learning and engaged during the summer.”

YouthQuest will run Mondays through Thursdays at the following sites, times and dates:

  • Carman-Ainsworth School District: At Randels Elementary, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. June 20-July 28. This site will also accept students from Dye, Dillon and Rankin elementary schools.
  • Flint Community Schools: Brownell-Holmes STEM Academy, Doyle-Ryder, Durant Tuuri-Mott, Eisenhower, Freeman, Neithercut, Pierce and Potter elementary schools. These sites will run from noon to 3 p.m. June 20-July 21.
  • International Academy of Flint (Grades K-6). This site will run from noon-4:30 p.m. June 27-July 28.

Elementary students wanting to attend the summer program can register during regular program hours at their current YouthQuest site, or online at flintandgenesee.org/learn/youthquest/enroll-child/.

In addition, YouthQuest will again offer Summer on the Road for middle and high school students this year. Details will be available in the near future.
